Holster draw training builds a smooth, controlled draw and a careful reholster, step by step.
What you’ll work on in class
Maybe you’ve earned your carry permit but have only practiced at a shooting bench. Or maybe you own a holster and have never had someone check its fit. Tell us where you’re starting so your instructor can focus on the questions you came with.

Understand your setup
Compare inside-the-waistband and outside-the-waistband holsters. Learn what retention means and how the holster, belt, and clothing work together.

Practice with feedback
Your instructor introduces drawing and reholstering in the classroom. You’ll have time to pause, ask what they noticed, and revisit a movement that feels unfamiliar.

Know what to change
Talk through what felt awkward. Was it the fit, the carry position, or a habit? Leave with a clearer idea of what to revisit with your instructor.
02 / Equipment
Have a holster already?
Before buying anything new, tell us what you own. If you haven’t chosen a holster yet, say so. We can talk through rental options and what you’ll need for your session.
- Your handgun’s make and model, if you own one.
- Your holster brand or model and whether you carry left- or right-handed.
- The belt or clothing you normally wear with it.
Your instructor and, where applicable, the host range must approve equipment before you use it in training. Confirm what to bring before traveling.

Here’s how the in-person class, permit training, and online holster course differ.
Can I take the class if I’ve never drawn from a holster?
Yes. The introductory holster draw training class welcomes beginners and takes place in a classroom. Tell us about your experience when you inquire, even if you have never handled a handgun.
Can I use a rental or bring my own firearm?
Rentals are available. If you prefer your own firearm and holster, describe them when you contact the training team. We’ll confirm equipment approval, availability, and any fees for your session.
Does this class count toward a concealed carry permit?
This is a separate skills class. For a DC, Maryland, or Virginia permit, visit our DMV concealed carry training page to find the appropriate course.
What if I want to learn about holsters online?
