Class offering strategy

Trouble Defense selects one nonprofit or community-serving organization each quarter to receive a free Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events seminar. Applications are accepted throughout the year, and organizations are encouraged to apply before the quarterly deadline to be considered for the next available training period. Selected groups receive practical instruction focused on situational awareness, emergency decision-making, communication, and the Avoid, Deny, Defend response framework.

The Community Safety Initiative is designed to make high-quality emergency preparedness education more accessible to churches, nonprofits, veteran organizations, youth groups, civic organizations, and other groups that serve the public. Each application is reviewed based on community need, expected attendance, organizational impact, and readiness to host the training. Through this initiative, Trouble Defense aims to train at least 100 community members every year and help build safer, stronger, and more prepared communities.

Yes. One selected organization each quarter receives the seminar at no cost. There is no instructor fee for the approved community training.

Eligible applicants may include nonprofits, churches, youth organizations, veteran groups, civic associations, community centers, charitable organizations, and other groups that serve the public.

The free quarterly initiative is primarily intended for nonprofit and community-serving organizations. Private businesses may contact Trouble Defense for paid workplace safety and emergency-preparedness training.

The seminar covers civilian response options during active shooter and other violent critical incidents. Topics may include situational awareness, emergency decision-making, communication, preparedness, and the Avoid, Deny, Defend response framework.

No. This is an educational safety and preparedness seminar. It does not include firearms handling, live-fire exercises, or range instruction.

Training generally lasts between two and four hours, depending on the selected format, audience size, and the organization’s needs.

No. The seminar is designed for members of the general public, employees, volunteers, organizational leaders, and community members with no previous training.
