It's a live class on Zoom with an instructor. It lasts about two hours. It is not a self-paced recorded course.
Can I attend from outside Arizona?
Yes, our Zoom training is available online. Arizona also accepts applications from qualified nonresidents. Your eligibility and whether your documentation meets the requirements are determined by Arizona DPS.
Do I need a gun or a shooting range for this class?
No. You do not need to bring a firearm or go to a range for this two-hour Zoom classroom class. If you want hands-on practice, we offer separate in-person range training.
Does the $50 price include my permit?
No. $50 is Trouble Defense's training tuition. Arizona currently charges $60 to apply for a new permit. Fingerprinting services may have an additional charge.
When will I receive my Zoom link?
After payment, Trouble Defense emails your Zoom joining information and class instructions within 24 hours. Check your inbox and spam folder. Contact us if you have not received it.
Will I receive a permit after the class?
No. Trouble Defense teaches the class and provides completion documentation after successful completion. You must apply to Arizona DPS separately. Arizona reviews your eligibility, supporting documents, fingerprints, and application before deciding whether to issue a permit.
Do I need fingerprints to apply?
Yes, new Arizona permit applicants need fingerprints. Arizona DPS describes electronic fingerprint options for online applicants and fingerprint-card instructions for paper applicants. Use the state's latest directions when you apply.
How old must I be to apply?
Most applicants must be at least 21. Certain current or former military applicants may qualify at age 19 or older with the required documentation. Other eligibility rules apply. Check the official Arizona DPS requirements.
Will an Arizona permit work in Maryland or Washington, DC?
No. An Arizona concealed weapons permit does not authorize concealed carry in Maryland or Washington, DC. Every state sets its own recognition rules, and some treat nonresident permits differently.
Do I need this class if I already have a concealed carry permit or military experience?
Maybe not. Arizona allows several types of proof of firearm competence, including certain out-of-state permits with an initial training or testing requirement, and qualifying military service records. Check A.R.S. § 13-3112(N) and Arizona DPS before purchasing training you may not need.
How long does an approved Arizona permit last?
Arizona concealed weapons permits are generally issued for five years, assuming continued eligibility. Renewals are handled separately by Arizona DPS.
