Will my court accept this firearm safety class?
Acceptance must be confirmed with the court or supervising authority responsible for your requirement. Ask about the permitted format, minimum hours, subjects, and documentation. Trouble Defense can discuss its training but cannot guarantee acceptance or a legal outcome.
How much does court-ordered firearm safety training cost?
The 2-hour remote learning and live Zoom safety course is $100 per person. The 3-hour in-person classroom and live-fire course is $250 per person, including firearm rental, 50 rounds, target, eye and ear protection, range fees, and a certificate. The Zoom plus live-fire option is $150 per person and includes a one-hour Zoom meeting and a one-hour range session; range fees and ammunition are not included.
Will I receive a firearm safety certificate for court?
Students who successfully complete the applicable Trouble Defense training receive a certificate of completion. Discuss required wording, training-hour details, delivery arrangements, and issuance timing before booking. For the $100 remote and live virtual course, both the self-paced portion and live Zoom session must be successfully completed to receive a certificate. A certificate is not permission to possess or carry a firearm.
Can I take a court-ordered gun safety class online?
Yes. Our $100 course combines self-paced remote learning with live Zoom instruction for two hours total. Instructions for the self-paced portion are emailed within 24 hours of registration. The selected appointment is for Zoom and is tentative until confirmed by staff. Complete both portions successfully to receive your certificate. Confirm that your court or referring authority accepts this format before registering.
What happens if I cannot legally possess a firearm?
Do not bring a firearm or arrange live-fire participation while your eligibility is unresolved. Ask your attorney or the relevant authority about any restrictions. Contact us to discuss whether classroom-only, no-handling education can be arranged and whether it meets your requirement.
Are classes offered in Fairfax and Lorton?
Yes. Both Fairfax and Lorton offer classroom instruction and live-fire range training. The shooting portion will be scheduled at the NRA Range in Fairfax, VA, or Sharpshooters Range in Lorton, VA, depending on availability. Trouble Defense staff will confirm your location, date, and time before your session. Our office is used only for meetings and appointments.
Can my attorney or probation professional contact you?
Yes. We welcome professional referrals and questions about training format, scheduling, and completion documentation. Provide client contact details only with permission, and use a brief training summary rather than sensitive case records.
Do I need previous experience or my own firearm?
No prior experience is needed for the classroom-based safety option, and you do not need to own a firearm to ask about training. Any hands-on activity or range session must be appropriate for your course and legal circumstances. Confirm what to bring before attending.
How quickly can I complete my training?
Tell us your deadline when you first contact us. Timing depends on the required hours, permitted format, and instructor availability. Ask about completion-documentation timing as well as the training appointment. Do not assume same-day, next-day, or rush service is available.
Do you offer free or pro bono court-ordered training?
Two complimentary training opportunities are offered each month for qualifying participants. Individuals, attorneys, and referring organizations may request consideration. Eligibility, course requirements, timing, and availability affect placement; an inquiry does not guarantee a free class.
Is this concealed carry or remedial firearm safety training?
This page focuses on court-referred and remedial firearm safety training, not a general concealed carry application package. Do not assume one course meets both requirements. Explain the education you have been directed to complete before selecting a program.
