How the Executive Fast-Track Program Works
Step 1: Complete Your Online Preparation: Begin with the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting online course and complete the assigned firearm-safety and handgun-fundamentals material at your own pace. The online course provides educational preparation but does not replace the required in-person portion of this program.
Step 2: Complete Your Virginia Firearm-Law Review: Review the Trouble Defense Virginia firearm-law guide, complete the knowledge check and attend a private 30-minute Zoom session with an instructor.
During the Zoom session, you may ask questions about Virginia carry laws, transportation, prohibited locations, use of force and the permit-application process. The legal review is provided for general education and is not individualized legal advice.
Step 3: Attend the Required In-Person Range Session:
Schedule your one-hour, instructor-led range session in Lorton, Virginia.
During the in-person session, you will receive hands-on instruction and demonstrate safe handgun handling under the direct supervision of a certified instructor. Range fees and the ammunition allocated for the package are included.
Step 4: Receive Your Training Certificate:
After successfully completing the online preparation, private legal review and required in-person training, you will receive your Virginia concealed handgun training certificate. The certificate may be issued on the same day that you complete your in-person session. You must then submit your own permit application to the appropriate Virginia Circuit Court or, for qualifying nonresident applications, the Virginia State Police.

Convenient Training for Northern Virginia Residents
Trouble Defense LLC serves students from Fairfax, Alexandria, Arlington, Lorton and communities throughout Northern Virginia.
The online preparation and private Zoom review can be completed remotely. The required instructor-led range session is conducted in person in Lorton, Virginia.
Virginia residents generally apply through the Circuit Court in the county or city where they reside. Nonresidents use a separate application process through the Virginia State Police.
