Trouble Defense Pro Bono Court-Ordered Firearm Safety Program

Trouble Defense believes that financial hardship should not prevent someone from completing required firearm safety education.

As part of our community safety initiative, Trouble Defense LLC provides two complimentary court-ordered firearm safety training opportunities each month for qualifying individuals.

The program is available to eligible participants from:

  • Virginia
  • Maryland
  • Washington, DC

Participants may be referred by attorneys, public defenders, probation professionals, courts, diversion programs, nonprofit organizations, community organizations, and other approved referral sources.

Individuals may also request consideration directly.

Pro Bono Availability

Only two complimentary training spots are available each month.

Submitting a request does not guarantee placement.

Online Gun Safety Training

Price: $49.99 Per Person
Format: Self-Paced Online Education

Our online option provides foundational firearm safety education that students can complete remotely.

IMPORTANT: Do not select an online class unless your court, attorney, probation officer, or referring authority confirms that online training is acceptable.

Duration: Approximately 2 Hours
Price: $150 Per Person

Students do not need previous firearm experience.

A student does not need to own a firearm to complete classroom-based firearm safety education.

Important Legal Notice

A live-fire range session is not appropriate for every court-referred student.

If your court order, probation conditions, protective order, or another legal restriction prevents you from possessing, accessing, transporting, or handling firearms, do not bring a firearm and do not schedule live-fire training without first confirming your eligibility.

What If I Am Not Allowed to Possess a Firearm?

You can still contact Trouble Defense.

Do not bring a firearm to class or attempt to participate in live-fire training if you are prohibited from possessing, accessing, transporting, or handling firearms.

Tell our team about any relevant restriction before your appointment.

Depending on the requirements of your court or referring authority, a classroom-based firearm safety education program that does not require possession or handling of a firearm may be more appropriate.

Trouble Defense cannot determine whether you are legally permitted to possess a firearm.

Questions regarding firearm eligibility or restrictions should be directed to your attorney or appropriate government authority.
