Train with a Black woman firearms instructor.
If you’ve been looking for another Black woman to teach you firearm safety, meet Sheena Parker. Take a private lesson with her or come to Fairfax and meet the women of B.A.B.E.
The woman behind B.A.B.E.
For some Black women, seeing another Black woman at the front of the class makes it easier to walk through the door. If that matters to you, it belongs in your choice of instructor. Sheena welcomes women of every background into her classes.
Sheena is Trouble Defense’s lead women’s instructor, an NRA-certified pistol instructor, and the founder of Trouble B.A.B.E. She teaches first-time students as well as students preparing for concealed carry courses in Virginia, Maryland, and DC.
Maybe your first question is, “What happens when I walk onto the range?” Maybe you’ve been shooting for years and want feedback from a woman who teaches. Tell Sheena which conversation you want to have. That’s where your lesson can begin.

Come solo. Get to know the women in the next lane.
It’s one thing to find a class. It’s another to find women you’d like to practice with again. That’s what Sheena is building through B.A.B.E., a monthly gathering where women can learn together and have a reason to come back.
You can sign up for a single session without knowing anyone there. The group starts with safety instruction, then practices under supervision. When the group goes out for a meal afterward, you’re welcome to pull up a chair. The meal is optional and everyone covers her own.
“She makes you feel comfortable and confident.”

How do I book a Black woman firearms instructor in Northern Virginia?
To train with Sheena Parker, use “Request a lesson with Sheena” to email the team. Include your preferred dates and whether you want private coaching or a group session. We’ll confirm Sheena’s availability and help you book.
Is this training just for Black women?
Women of every background are welcome. This invitation speaks directly to Black women who want to learn from a Black woman instructor. If you’re looking for a women’s class, you have a place here, too.
What if I’ve never held a firearm?
That’s a good reason to start with an instructor. Tell Sheena this is your first visit. Your session begins with a safety review and time to understand what will happen before supervised practice begins.
Do I need to own a firearm or buy gear?
No. Each of these women’s programs includes firearm rental, ammunition, a target, and eye and ear protection. The private group option has a separate range fee.
Can I join B.A.B.E. on my own?
Yes. Reserve one spot on the B.A.B.E. calendar. You’ll be joining a scheduled women’s group, so you don’t need a partner or a group of your own.
Where will I meet my instructor?
B.A.B.E. meets at the NRA Range in Fairfax. Private lessons and private groups meet in Fairfax or at Sharpshooters Indoor Range in Lorton. Use the location in your booking confirmation for your visit.
Let’s find a day to get you on the range.
Tell us who’s coming, when you’re free, and what you want to learn. Ask for Sheena, and we’ll help you find a date with her.
